Try the OnLive beta!

We all have our doubts about streaming gaming about how it's next to impossible for this system to work for the user base they're looking into.  I have my extreme doubts as well. Unfortunately, I can't be a part of this beta test anyway since I'm Canadian. It's for US only.

So sign up and tell us how it is the second the NDA is lifted if you manage to get in.

Seriously though, sign up for it. We all would like to know just how reliable of a service this is now that it'll not be strictly local streaming tests behind closed doors.*  It's a good idea, but even with our advanced internet capabilities, I can't see it being anything but a choppy nightmare if there are a few million subscribers all playing at once.

*Again, once the NDA is lifted.

I'll sign up. I wonder how it'll work on the college Internet

...

*sigh*

Well, 10/1 Mbps (Download/Upload) is supposed to be able to do 720p streaming.

So.. shared college internet I'd say... 320p would be a playable resolution? :P

(Standard definition TV's run at 480p)

The only problem with our Internet is that it has stages of working really well and then stage when it's plain crappy. I did a speed test at 8:30 am and I got 73up/43down. During the evening and early night, that speed goes down to about 7up/12down.

I've also heard that the Internet is threaded oddly, so it mades YouTube SLOW AS BALLS.

signed up for that shit!
